Simply put, I don't want machines doing my job. After working with Pro-Audio gear, and analysers, scopes, and generators, It was an active decision to keep their use at a minimum while creating in my lab.
While I realize that all of these tools are very useful when troubleshooting or solving a problem, I'd rather just listen to an amp, and never see it on the scope. To quote Joe Meek, "If it sounds right, then it IS right." Even though I could fidget around for weeks getting a perfect trace on the scope, a guitar amp really isn't supposed to be a perfect reproducing device. Instead, a guitar amp needs to find its own voice. If I like the way an amplifier sounds, then it's better than good.... it's downright impressive.
